KATY BUSINESS AWARDED “SMALL FAMILY-OWNED BUSINESS OF 2009”
Lans of Texas, Inc., d.b.a. LANSTAR, is pleased to announce that Lanstar has won the honor of the title: “Small Family-Owned Business of the Year” for the SBA's South Texas Region.
Lanstar began 15 years ago as a Small, Woman-Owned Business - owned by Jean and Earl Stout. The nomination came from Joe Decker, Director of the University of Houston's Fort Bend County Small Business Development Center. With the help of an SBA loan program underwritten by Community CDC, Lanstar has been able to build a two story office and warehouse building to expand their facilities and service capabilities.
Mr. Decker, along with his team of professionals, assisted the Stout's with their business plan and finding lenders interested in their business plan for expansion of their business and creation of the Katy Commerce Center. Financing led by Bill Ebersole; Steve State of States Mortgage Company; and Jim Wilkie the SBA 504 loan package was approved. The result of the SBA offering is the establishment of a facility with new service capabilities for the growth of jobs and businesses in the Katy/West Houston Area.
The new headquarters for Lanstar is called: Katy Commerce Center. For over 15 years, Lanstar has serviced companies throughout the US and the world with the distribution of various products and services. Understanding the needs of small businesses, and the lack of facility and service offerings for small and developing companies, Lanstar has developed a new “Commerce Center” concept.
Lanstar's “Commerce Center Concept” transforms their experience as a small entrepreneurial business of sourcing, logistics and support - to a service organization for companies that wish to grow their businesses with the help of “Other Peoples Resources.” The new expanded services include: Executive Offices, Administrative Support, Logistics and Fulfillment, along with Training and Conference Room rental.
Jean and Earl have worked together for the past 19 years of their 28 year marriage. They have two sons: Derek and Todd Stout; both of whom have contributed more than their fair share of time and effort to the family business. The majority of the moveable walls and raised flooring used in the building were installed with their help. Since 1999, Earl's mother, Alma Stout, now 88 years young!, has assisted with accounting and other administrative duties to help their business run smoothly.
Lanstar is in a new chapter of growth and service to the market place. To find out more about Lanstar and the Katy Commerce Center please contact Jean Stout at 281-829-2448 or visit our web sites www.katycc.com or www.lanstar.com .
